Welcome to the Website of the North Shore Heritage Area

This site has been created to provide access to the ideas, concepts, and management plan of the Long Island North Shore Heritage Area. The Heritage Area will help open opportunities for regional collaborations to recognize and celebrate the region's rich historic and cultural legacy.

Long Island North Shore Heritage Area, Inc. (LINSHA, Inc.), the non-profit management agency for this New York State Heritage Area, is pleased to announce its official incorporation by the New York State Department of State on January 22, 2008. You can find additional information about this new management entity in the ABOUT US section of this website on the Long Island North Shore Heritage Area, Inc. page.

With the participation of citizens, public and private organizations, and local governments, the North Shore Heritage Area will help raise awareness of the importance of this legacy. The North Shore Heritage Area Management Plan addresses the goals of cultural resource management for regional economic revitalization and highlights identification and preservation of natural and historical places, recreational use of special places, and education about local, regional and natural history to foster a sense of identity and increased pride in the region.

Please explore the web site to learn more about this wonderful opportunity for the North Shore of Long Island.
